Why You Should Use LinkedIn To Promote Your Business

This is something I've been pondering for a while. We’ve all seen Pretty Little Marketer and Girls In Marketing build a cult following on the platforms, but is there a good chance your business will thrive on the platform.

When it comes to promoting your business on social, I’m not a fan of having fingers in many pies. Sure, it’s good to spread the word about your business, but are you telling the right people? As much as I love the fun and creativity that social media marketing brings, time is money. Are you investing your time into the right ventures? TikTok might be where the kids are at, but is it really good for promoting your retirement home? Is a Spotify podcast the best way to promote your videography venture?

Of course not!

There’s no point doing something if it’s not going to help you grow, make sales, and truly get value from social media - so when it comes to making decisions about expanding your social media strategy you really do need to think it through.

For AGES, I’ve been pondering whether or not I should expand my social strategy to encompass LinkedIn. But time, energy, and research have all been stopping me from finally taking the leap.

You’ll Need To Redesign

When you expand your social media strategy into a new platform, you’re not just thinking about your audience, it’s about your content. Are you going to create an entirely new bank of content? Probably not, unless you fancy a mental breakdown. The likelihood is that you’re going to spend time rewriting the same content to fit this new platform. Take my Instagram branding for example:

It’s glaring, bright, and almost unhinged compared to the type of content you see in LinkedIn. Now I love my branding (especially thanks to the recent rebrand efforts), but it’s just not something thats going to work on a professional space like LinkedIn.

But Why Are Platforms Like LinkedIn Worth Considering?

Professional Networking: LinkedIn is purpose-built for professionals to connect and network. Businesses can utilize this platform to forge relationships with potential clients, partners, and industry leaders. Engaging in conversations, joining relevant groups, and attending industry events on LinkedIn can significantly expand a company's professional network.

Brand Visibility: By regularly sharing valuable and relevant content, businesses can increase their visibility on LinkedIn. Through posts, articles, and updates, they can showcase their expertise, share insights, and demonstrate thought leadership in their respective fields. Consistent engagement with the audience also contributes to enhancing brand visibility.

Recruitment: LinkedIn is a go-to platform for talent acquisition. Businesses can post job openings, search for qualified candidates, and build their employer brand by sharing company updates, culture highlights, and employee testimonials. This platform allows companies to connect with professionals actively seeking opportunities and passive job seekers who might be open to new roles.

Lead Generation: LinkedIn offers diverse avenues for lead generation. Targeted advertising allows businesses to reach specific demographics, while outreach and engagement in relevant groups or through direct messaging enable personalized interactions with potential customers. Engaging content and regular updates can also attract prospects to explore products or services offered by a business.

Industry Insights: Following relevant companies, groups, and thought leaders on LinkedIn keeps businesses informed about industry trends, news, and insights. This helps in staying updated with the latest developments, fostering innovation, and adapting strategies to meet market demands.

Content Marketing: Sharing high-quality content on LinkedIn establishes a business as a credible source of information within its industry. Whether it's blog posts, articles, videos, or infographics, valuable content attracts an audience, nurtures relationships, and positions the business as an authority in its field.

Analytics and Data: LinkedIn's analytics tools offer valuable insights into audience engagement metrics, allowing businesses to track the performance of their content and campaigns. This data-driven approach helps in understanding what resonates with the audience, refining marketing strategies, and optimizing content for better engagement and results.

Effectively leveraging these aspects of LinkedIn can contribute significantly to a business's growth, visibility, and success in the professional realm.
