Since the start of the global pandemic, I feel like the topic of sustainability has been hushed away by the need to survive. Instead of straws and beer holders, our oceans are getting flooded with disposable masks and medical equipment. The challenge of sustainability (like most things) has been put on hold whilst we fight off the pandemic.
But this doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t stop making changes to our personal lives or throw away all the progress we’ve made. If enough of us understand that small changes in our own lives can make big changes in the long-term, then there is absolutely no excuse for sustainability to go out the window.
To prove that sustainability is easy on a budget, I’ve partnered with My Little Eco Shop to show you just some of their sustainable products that can easily be implemented into your daily routine.
What is My Little Eco Shop?
My Little Eco Shop is an online retailer which aims to provide plastic-free solutions to everyday items. Their mission is to replace day-to-day plastic and environment damaging products with kinder and smarter options for the planet.
Behind the brand, My Little Eco Shop is made up of a small team in Devon. They began the company back in January with the purpose of bringing affordable eco-options to the market. When they made the switch to eco-products, they were shocked at the price of sustainability. They wanted to create a shop that sourced the best quality economically friendly items that don’t push consumerism through greenwashing, but instead hot a collection of bare essential eco-products that are fairly priced for consumers.
Skincare
Over the past few years, you may have noticed that big brands have started to minimalist their packaging and promote the natural ingredients rather than the gimmicks. I blame my generation for this, Generation Z have pushed past the pointless bells and glitter and asked to see the ingredients and the impacts of the stuff they’re putting on their bodies.
Of course brands like The Ordinary have forged new paths for skincare and Morphe 2 has figured out how to nail the minimalistic makeup. But My Little Eco Shop is a strong contender for the natural beauty brand of choice.
Using natural, organic products doesn’t mean you need to compromise on the quality of your beauty regime. In fact, avoiding harmful chemicals can help your skin improve, with a reduction in redness, irritation and breakouts, as well as fewer lines and wrinkles.

Feminine Care
When it comes to sustainable feminine care, I agree it is an issue that needs resolving. But, I also wish they’d put a lot more time into creating biodegradable condoms. In America alone 12 Billion pads and 7 Billion tampons are thrown out annually. Considering that most (if not all) of them will have plastic elements in, there is definitely a need for a more environmentally safe solution.

Christmas
Yes, Christmas is just around the corner! You’ve probably guessed by now that I am taking opportunity humanly possible to discuss the festive season. But what can I say? It’s been a weird year so any excuse for a bit of happiness will be welcomed with open arms.
I don’t know if anybody else had this experience growing up. But My family would waste so much wrapping paper. I don’t think I was particularly spoilt as a child but my mom would over wrap items and cover them in 3 inches of celotape. I know some people would press and reuse paper for the following year, but I was particularly vicious with my presents, I doubt you could even use it as confetti.
