Fear Of Posting

Fear of posting (FOP) is real. That sinking feeling in your gut every time you look at your content calendar, wondering if your copy is good enough, will perform well enough, and a thousand other concerns.

Your relationship with your writing is an intimate one, and one Ive personally struggled with a lot over the past decade. Your motivation ebbs and flows, impacted so easily by everything else going on in your life. I feel like so many of us associate writers block with authors or creative writers, but it can just as easily manifest itself in a fear of posting for marketers.

We put so much time into making our content perfect, we have to know our business like the back of our hands and that mounts up a lot of pressure.

This year, I’ve given myself the goal of getting back into the swing of things - sickness has got in the way of that a little bit. But as I start to write and schedule content over the weekend, I’m starting to get the same anxiety that caused me to take the break initially.

Will my content be GOOD enough?

If you’re starting to doubt yourself, its time to ask yourself a few questions to find the confidence to click “post”.

Critically analyse your content - make sure it is well and truly ticking all of the boxes.

Here’s some questions I’ll be asking myself this weekend:

Eliminate the fear of posting

Quality Assurance Questions for Marketers:

  1. Clarity & Conciseness: Is my message clear, and am I getting to the point without unnecessary fluff?

  2. Audience Relevance: Does this content speak directly to my target audience’s pain points, needs, or interests?

  3. Brand Consistency: Does the tone, voice, and messaging align with my brand?

  4. Value-Driven: Am I offering something useful—education, inspiration, or entertainment?

  5. Engagement Potential: Is there a clear call to action (CTA) or reason for my audience to interact with this?

  6. SEO Optimization: Have I incorporated relevant keywords naturally without overstuffing?

  7. Readability: Have I structured my content with formatting that makes it easy to skim (headings, bullet points, spacing)?

  8. Grammar & Typos: Have I proofread, and maybe even run it through a tool like Grammarly?

  9. Visual Appeal: Are my images, graphics, or videos high-quality and aligned with my brand?

  10. Performance Trackability: Do I have a way to measure how this content performs so I can improve future posts?

If you can check off these boxes, then you’re good to go. The fear of posting isn’t about whether you’re a good writer or not—it’s about confidence. And confidence comes from knowing you’ve done your due diligence.
