3 Cocktails For Whiskey Drinkers

It’s no secret that I like a cheeky drink or two. But since lockdown started I’ve taken a particular fascination in cocktail making. It’s always looked so fun and I think I’ve always liked the idea of being able to make high quality cocktails from the comfort of my own home.

So this month I’ve tried to bring my love of cocktail making into my blog a little more. It’s most been on my Instagram page and Pinterest boards. But last week I put together a list of three easy cocktail recipes you should start off with. It was actually received really well, so perhaps it’s time to post another.

Here’s a list of my top three cocktail recipes that I think all Whiskey drinkers should try.

Why drink whiskey?

Cranberry Vanilla Old Fashioned

A fresh take on my drink. There’s two types of old fashioned; the new whiskey and bitters and then the OLD old fashioned which involves bourbon. I absolutely love both but bourbon is my poison through and through.

Be warned, this drink is strong enough to knock your socks off.

Ingredients:

3 ounces favorite bourbon whiskey

1 ounce cranberry simple syrup (see below)

3 shakes Angostura bitters

For the cranberry simple syrup:

1 cup sugar

1 cup fresh cranberries

2 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Instructions

To make the simple syrup: in a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water, the sugar and cranberries to a gentle boil. Once it’s just boiling, cook for 5 minutes. Strain. Add the vanilla bean paste or extract; stir. Cool completely before serving.

To make the cocktail: In a high ball glass with ice (or you can make the drink in a shaker and pour over ice), stir together the bourbon, cranberry-vanilla simple syrup, and bitters.

Skrew Putin

We love a political beverage! This drink is an incriminating take on the White Russian and definitely one that you need to try

1.5 oz. Skrewball Whiskey

5 oz. Vodka

5 oz. Coffee liqueur

1 oz. Cream of coconut

1 oz. Heavy cream

Allow all ingredients to collude in a mixing glass with ice.

Shake well. Pour into cocktail glass and garnish with cinnamon and sugar (optional).

Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Manhattan

It’s peanut butter jelly time! Whilst researching the previous cocktail, I discovered another recipe which just had to be included in this list. If you want to check out the company, click here.

1.5 oz. Skrewball Whiskey

25 oz. Punt e Mes

25 oz. Cocchi Americano

2-3 Dash Angostura Bitters

1 Dash Angostura Orange Bitters

Build all in an old fashioned glass with ice. Stir. Garnish with lemon peel, expressing the oils.
