Self-Management

Time management, organisation, self control, and concentration, what do they have in common? Any good freelancer work their grain has the ability to conquer all three. It may take time to master them all, but once they do it saves hours.

After having restarted my fiverr account, I’ve seriously been struggling with my time management and motivation. It’s not like picking up a book, you can’t work as and when it pleases you - you have to force yourself to work. Which doesn’t like a particularly pretty concept to anyone. But one sure fire way to avoid it is adopting self management techniques.

What is Self-Management?

Self-management refers to the ability to manage oneself effectively and efficiently, including time, energy, and resources. It involves setting goals, creating a schedule, prioritizing tasks, and monitoring progress. Self-management is essential for freelancers because they are their own bosses and must take responsibility for their own success or failure.

For me, self management, time management, and organisation help stop me from becoming overwhelmed and demotivated from my work.

Importance of Self-Management for Freelancers

Increased Productivity

Freelancers who can manage themselves effectively are more productive and efficient in their work. They are better able to prioritize their tasks, focus on important projects, and avoid distractions. This can lead to increased earnings and more opportunities for future work.

Better Time Management

One of the biggest challenges for freelancers is managing their time effectively. Self-management skills can help freelancers create a schedule that works for them, prioritize their tasks, and avoid procrastination. This can help them meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work to their clients.

Improved Work-Life Balance

Freelancers often struggle to maintain a healthy work-life balance because they work from home or have irregular working hours. Self-management skills can help freelancers create boundaries between their work and personal life, which can lead to improved mental health and overall well-being.

Increased Accountability

Freelancers who can manage themselves effectively are more accountable for their work. They are responsible for meeting deadlines, delivering high-quality work, and managing their clients’ expectations. This can lead to increased trust and respect from clients, which can lead to more work in the future.

Enhanced Professionalism

Self-management skills are a key component of professionalism. Freelancers who can manage themselves effectively are more likely to communicate clearly with clients, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work. This can lead to a positive reputation in the industry and more opportunities for future work.
