My May Bullet Journal Spread Plan

I bloody love journaling. I got into the habit of bullet journaling earlier this year after a good friend and colleague introduced me to the idea. Of course, bullet journaling has become a massive mainstream hobby for many. But the method within itself has a more profound and productive purpose.

I touch on the bullet journal method in my previous blog, The Ultimate Bullet Journal Shopping List if you're interested in learning about its creation.

If you're still thinking about starting your bullet journal, be warned; the hobby is addictive. Especially with everything going on in the world at the moment, it's nice to have a relaxing hobby to take your mind off stuff. One of the best things about bullet journaling is that you can make it about anything you want. If you're going to turn your bullet journal into a gratitude journal, fitness journal or whatever, you can!

So companies and influencers have started selling their version of the bullet journal. Complete with sections ready to be filled in and fun designs you could easily do yourself.

If you're thinking about writing a pre-made spread, don't. The best bit of bullet journaling is taking the time to make it yourself. It's completely custom! Of course, you might take inspiration from YouTubers or Pinterest boards on what to include in your spreads. But your journal will be one of a kind.

I've tried to make my journal unique. I go crazy with watercolour and adapt unique designs to fit my style. My bullet journal gives me a chance to relax and paint. I feel comforted by the crinkled pages filled with colour, but contact accomplished when I create minimalistic spreads.

Hopefully, you've found this blog while looking for inspiration for your next month of bullet journal spreads! While on lockdown, I've started to plan each month around specific topics; for example, last month, I dedicated most my pages to staying fit. I included tables (pictured below) which tracked my sleep, how often I was exercising, my steps each day and my water intake. While the world is having a meltdown, it helps me feel in control when I focus on goals or Quarantine Resolutions as I call them. For May, I've chosen to focus on the similar topic of wellbeing and healing. It's quite a broad topic but lets me focus on what I want to whenever I fancy it.

As you'll see from the spreads below, I've interpreted this topic in a few different ways. Physical wellbeing is still a high priority of mine, hence why I'm bringing back my cigarette tracker spread and continuing to track everything to do with how I look after my body.

I'm also dedicating a lot of pages to my mental wellbeing. I read an article saying that mental health is the second pandemic that nobody is talking about. I worry so much about everything that goes on, tracking how I'm feeling will be the right way for me to vent these emotions out and ensure I'm not spiralling. I'll also be dedicating a few pages to my distractions and downtime activities. For example, I'm getting back into crystal healing.

Anyway! Enough of the ramble. Please enjoy my May spread!

A lot of these pages are awaiting outlines and small amendments. I've started to set myself daily manageable goals for the week. It helps me feel more in control of my activities and stay productive.

My calendar spread for May is so simple. But I normally end up doodling over the spread throughout the month so I didn't bother much with an intricate design. I've made use of the space by adding a section where I write my steps for the day. With everything going on at the moment there is very little chance to go outside an exercise. So I want to make sure I'm getting it whenever I can!

My Quarantine goals. I did update this spread later, but I think this one is still my favourite.

Here's my mood tracker spread I use every month! It's a bit sketchy looking but I am too. I originally started filling in the squares with watercolour but the process of using colouring pencils is much more peaceful.

Here's my health tracker! I've been trying to keep track of all my 'problem' traits. The main ones are the lack of sleep and not stretching properly before running.

Practising planning for my next blog post.

The likelihood is I'll add to this as the month progresses, but I think it's always useful to see how people hope to start the month. Maybe I'll do another post at the end of month showing any additions.

But anyway, I hope you enjoyed my first proper bullet journal blog. Until next time!
