30 Amazing Self-Affirmations

I'm a big fan of being your cheerleader. I think it's one of the best ways to be successful in life. To be able to recognise that you're a unique little badass who can do you anything you put your mind too; that's probably the best weapon you can take with you through life.

I've had a lot of issues with my confidence. I often fall victim to imposter syndrome; I feel stupid or doubt my ability to do the things that I love. I hate my teeth, and I worry I babble like someone who's off their meds. In short, the idea of being your therapist, cheerleader and supporter has enthralled me for years.

Initially, Journaling was a great way to get stuff off my chest. I have about ten years worth of journals sitting in a box right next to me. For a while, they went untouched. But now they're my biggest motivator; it's almost like flipping straight back to the Philosopher's Stone after finishing the Deathly Hallows. It's hard to believe I was ever in that place mentally, I read my old journals, and I see a depressed kid who hardly seems real.

I've grown a lot in the past year of my life, let alone the past ten. Without meaning too, I surrounded myself with confident people who could lift me and teach me their secrets to life—everything from how to be a stoic and how to motivate yourself.

I've said a few times, in my last job, the bosses were keen to support staff mentally. Each member of the team was entitled to a life coach three times a year. During my time with Lisa, I learnt techniques that would help me stay positive and grow. But I also learnt a lot about picking myself up when I'm feeling low or defeated.

One of the big things I took from our sessions was the notion of self-affirmation. The fact that mere thoughts could have such a profound impact on the way you lived your life was surprising. Instead of you are what you eat, it was a case of you what you think.

Affirmations help purify our thoughts and restructure the dynamic of our brains so that we truly begin to think nothing is impossible. The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, originally meaning "to make steady, strengthen."

Self-affirmations are a proven method of self-help. They help us believe the action/goal we're trying to manifest for ourselves. It's also just a perfect way to start the day positively.

Think about it this way; If you spend the whole of your life saying 'I can't' to everything, you're not going have a lot of faith in yourself or a will to succeed.

Why not try it out? Self-affirmations are nothing like yoga or mindful meditation. It's merely a few kind words to yourself in the mirror; it doesn't take more than a few seconds! Here's a few I found for you to try:
